Matt Blackford, Director of Coaching
Blackford began coaching in 1992 with Dubuque Soccer Club
and was at Hempstead High School in Dubuque, IA from 1994-1997 (making an
elite eight state appearance with the boys in 1996). He also
was assistant men's coach at Loras College in Dubuque from 1995-1997.
Blackford has been with Peoria Notre Dame since 1999 during which time the
boys have made elite eight state appearances in each of his six years,
culminating with this years state champions! He has been head coach of
the girls at PND since 2002 and they too have made elite eight status in
each of his three years, finishing fourth in 2003. In 2002, Blackford was
Illinois Central College Women's Soccer Head Coach where he won National
Junior College Athletic Association Region XXIV Woman's Soccer Coach of
the Year. Blackford will continue with his Notre Dame coaching
responsibilities.

Jason Pena, Asst. Director of Soccer
Operations
Pena has
been with SFC for many years, both as a player and coach. He was an
Illinois Select ODP team member and played varsity high school soccer at
Dunlap for 4 years, where he was All-State his senior year. Pena played
varsity soccer at Judson College for 4 years where he won a National
Championship and received All Conference, All Region, and All American
honors. Most recently, he played for the Colorado Springs Blizzard in the
Professional Developmental League during the 2004 season. Pena carries a
USSF National D License. Pena is the Coach for the 2004-05 Sporting FC
94 Boys.

Michael Smith, Asst. Director of Soccer
Operations
Smith is finishing his final semester at Bradley University in Secondary
Education English. He played high school soccer in Buffalo Grove, IL, club
soccer with Schwaben AC and most recently for Bradley University as a
defender/midfielder. Smith is the Coach for the 2004-05 Sporting FC 92
Girls.

Chris Miller, Head Coach for Instructional
Soccer Program for 5 - 10 year olds
Miller has an extensive soccer background. He played varsity high
school soccer at Richwoods High School and earned All-Conference,
All-Sectional, All-State and All-Midwest honors. He also played on the
IYSA state Olympic Developmental Program team. Coach Miller played
varsity soccer at Bradley University for 4 years. After college, he
played for the All-Air Force soccer team. Since then he has conducted
developmental clinics and coached area teams for Sporting FC, Peoria Soccer
Club and the CIS Club in Bloomington.
